I just realized that it's been almost 2 year since I posted a journal.   That in itself is a good enough reason to post a new one.

Not too much is new with me.  Life gets busy and photography gets put on the back burner.  I've also discovered the joys of wasting vast
amounts of time playing computer games. ;(

I've just renewed my membership so I hope I get around to posting some photos some time soon.

Dear Friends,
I have been very hit and miss on this site for quite a while.   My membership is due on January 1st and I am contemplating not
renewing it.  I have been having trouble with this site for quite some time.  Difficulty with submissions and lots of  error
messages when I try to do anything like delete deviations.

I am posting most of my recent photos on facebook where most of my friends and family can view them.  I have never made my
photos available for purchase as that is not the purpose of this hobby of mine.

I will be sad to leave after quite a few years of being a member and having met so many wonderful people, who remain my friends,
many of whom I have met on our travels.

Several people I respect on this site have voiced concerns that this site had beome the toy of a few people in control and no longer a
place where anyone can get recognition.

In any case I am moving on.

It's been fun for the most part.

Hi Folks,
For some reason I have not signed on to DA for many months.  I'm not sure why but I apologize for neglecting my DA duties.  I have given myself an almost clean slate and will try harder to keep up with what's going on.

I haven't really been happy with my photography for the past year or so and like most people I feel that some new equipment might help or at least give me a new lease on life.  I'm saving up for a Canon 7D.

We had a good 5 week trip through the southern American states in Dec./Jan.  I took some photos and may post a few but like I said I haven't taken anything that really makes me proud.  

I've noticed, from the dates on journals, that many of you are not as active as in the past either but I'm looking forward to seeing what deviations my friends post ..starting today.

P.S.  Belated Happy New Year...

I am here on DA to improve and I am always pleased when I get good honest feedback. I love a good critique but even more I love to receive suggestions for improvement.  I may not always agree but I am always grateful when someone takes the time to view and comment critically on one of my submissions.  

With that in mind I have decided to drop out of a group that fairly consistently declines my photos without comment.  I find this process singularly unhelpful.  It's like saying there is no help for you so stop trying.  What I would like to see is a high-standard group formed by experienced photographers who would take the time to say 'declined' because.......... the process should only take a moment and could even be built into the system.  I think this would be a real benefit to the DA photography community.

Our trip to the UK commences in Scotland next week.  We are looking forward to returning once again to our favourite haunts and discovering some new ones.

We are also looking forward to meeting up with some of our DA friends in the Lake District in March.  This has become a yearly thing and we enjoy our get-togethers very much.

I have a new 18-200 mm lens and so far I'm getting a lot of use out of it.  The only other lens I'm bringing on our trip is my 10-20mm.  Watch out landscapes here I come.
