Life is strange

Journal Entry: Sat Jun 20, 2009, 7:38 PM

Rebecca's Journal

Life is indeed strange. ... For years I lived on 3 acres with extensive gardens and one of my ambitions was to attract Orioles to the garden.  I never did succeed.  I now live in a house in town with a garden the size of a postage stamp and there they are, out on the fence, singing their cotton pickin’ little hearts out.

Time for a change of features.

Rebecca

Friends Features

------------------------------------------------------

I watch and admire the work of the following deviants
------------------------------------------------------

:iconfirey-sunset:  Stellar images by Mary-Anne from Australia.

:icongone-everlong:  Kevin. A buff guy from Arkansas.  Oh yeah he takes great pictures too.

:iconwarnaiman: Iman...If you're not watching him you should be.

And Speaking of Birds

This is going to be tough.  So many of you take excellent bird shots.

As always this is a random selection from my faves. It's just luck if you got more than one and bad luck if I missed you.

The orioles usually show up here about the same time that the hummingbirds arrive, but they never seem to stop for more than a week. I think they go farther north for breeding. This year though, some have stayed, and they are visiting the feeder regularly.
Thanks so much for including two of mine in your lovely bird feature.
Sorry for my late visit. :glomp:

From the singing I hear I think we have a courting couple and nest in close proximity but I'm not sure where but it will be in the neighbours yard because ours is pretty bare.

Have you tried putting halves of oranges out for them? Just stick the orange on a nail on a tree or fence post.

Yes we tried that when we lived in the country but nothing seemed to work. It's not neccessasry now because they are nesting next door. :)
