Here we are again....

Journal Entry: Tue Feb 7, 2012, 6:27 AM

Hi Folks,
For some reason I have not signed on to DA for many months.  I'm not sure why but I apologize for neglecting my DA duties.  I have given myself an almost clean slate and will try harder to keep up with what's going on.

I haven't really been happy with my photography for the past year or so and like most people I feel that some new equipment might help or at least give me a new lease on life.  I'm saving up for a Canon 7D.

We had a good 5 week trip through the southern American states in Dec./Jan.  I took some photos and may post a few but like I said I haven't taken anything that really makes me proud.

I've noticed, from the dates on journals, that many of you are not as active as in the past either but I'm looking forward to seeing what deviations my friends post ..starting today.

Rebecca

Hi Rebecca the 7D is a great Camera I dont have it though I know many who do on the Photography Forum I am on.
When its successor comes out I will buy that maybe next year ? as my 40D is starting to lack that oomp that I get when using my 5DMk11
Good to hear that you had a trip South I will look forward to seeing those photo's..
I am not on here very much now, I dont have the time anymore as it seems to take more time to do the basic house work these days.
Guess I am getting old..

I know what you mean about time shrinking. The days seem to fly by with me getting nothing done.
I've heard rumours that the new Canon will be full-frame which means my old lenses won't fit on it, also I can't wait that long. ;)

Thats interesting Rebecca I have not heard that on the forum, so perhaps it is only a rumour they would be silly if they did that as people many be able to afford the camera though not everyone can afford to buy L lenses.

I did the right thing from the word go bought EF lenses except one it took longer to save up but I dont have those worries.

One recent quote from attached article. [link] "Canon is expect to introduce a new 7d mark11 with full frame sensor in August.' My lenses, in particular my sigma wide angle and my new 18-200 canon lens, bought for my d350 xsi, would not fit this camera. I will be quite happy with the current 7D however I think I should buy it sooner rather than later because if the rumour is true the 7d will be in great demand and I don't even know if Canon will continue to manufacture it. On the other hand I just bought a new computer and the tech fund is running dry.

Thanks for the links though Rebecca though I have read all of those and I doubt that Canon will bring out one FF camera right behind another.

Yes you should buy a camera now if you need that new camera I am very happy with my 5DMk11 I am in no hurry so I can wait.

I put in an order to B&H NY on Monday for things we cannot get in Australia mainly different Diffusers, two Gary Fong Puffers and Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce Set both for my Canon twinlite as the glare is terrible when I am using my MP-E-65mm macro lens. I also order the tiny Canon lens hood the guys on our Photography Forum reckon that cuts down the glare too, also got the Canon 50mm f/1.4 as I my granddaughter has my nifty nifty and it does not look like I am getting it back :) the f/1.4 is a better lens anyway. Also got a 16GB Memory Card which was $30 cheaper that the cheapest here so that saving almost paid for the postage from the USA so I am very happy.

I know what you mean about tech funds running low, terrible isn't it.

I'm still using my first camera the Rebel xsi also known as 350d, it must be 5 years now, and I find it's limitations frustrating and my desire to take pictures waning. Hopefully the income tax return will go a little way to replacing it. :)
