We are having splendid autumn weather.  One warm sunny day after another with cool evenings.  It's a bit early for really good autumn colour but I hope to document the leaf changes over the next month or so.

Yesterday we took the day and drove around to some of our areas nature preserves.  I found a great tripod at a yard sale for $5.00 it's old, very lightweight aluminium and very study.

With my new camera and old tripod I made my first attempts at producing HDR images using Photomatix.

I will post a few of these and I hope to get tips from you HDR experts out there as well as as much critique as you care to hand out.
  • Mood: Enjoying The Show
  • Listening to: back up beeps on construction vehicles
  • Reading: Terry Goodkind
  • Watching: The street from my window
  • Eating: Healthy
  • Drinking: tons of caffine free diet pepsi

Haha nice, very good price for a tripod. :D My only tip (and I'm not an expert mind) for you so far is that a lot of your shots seem to turn out a bit blurry. Have you tried fiddling with the focal length on your lens? From what I understand that helps with sharpening objects at different distances.

I'll try that. I also think it could have something to do with the age of your very sharp young eyes as opposed to the age of my "the whole world is blurry most of the time" eyes.

Haha, well that could be I suppose. :D Or maybe I'm just a nitpicker. ;)

Good critique is never nitpicking. I could be wrong but I think true clarity in HDR is hard to come by, you would need a totally inert subject, but it is made up for with the added depth. Some things like water movement usually improve because a little blurr on water is apparently a good thing.
